About
Rhonda Cowell
Rhonda Cowell is a Jamaican-born, South East London-raised spoken word poet based in Sydney. Her work lives at the intersection of Blackness, womanhood and motherhood.
After more than six years teaching Media, Film and Television, she found spoken word as a way to express herself more personally. Since arriving in Sydney, she has become the first poet to feature at Bread & Butter Poetry twice in a single year, and has also featured at Sydney Poetry Lounge. She won the Australian Poetry Slam 2026 New South Wales final, and will compete in Bread & Butter's 2026 Slampionship at the Sydney Opera House.
Uneven is her debut chapbook.
